The Medieval Center

The Medieval Center is an independent institution, an experimental archaeological research center, a science education activity center, and a cultural attraction that offers visitors a journey back in time 610 years.

The Medieval Center's storytelling focuses on an important period in Danish and European history. The Viking Age may be more popular among the general public, but Denmark's growth and welfare history did not originate from raiding expeditions, but from the medieval trade network. Denmark was an important station between the German Hanseatic cities and Nordic cooperation.

The Medieval Center offers a full-day experience for families and tourists with live performances, jousting tournaments and hands-on activities. In addition, research is conducted on topics such as medieval daily life and medieval technology, and there have been research projects on gunpowder, cannons, war machines, clothing, reconstructions of houses and objects, ships, and much more.
